Alaskan Malamutes Health Guarantee
2 Years
Qualifying Examination: The new owner(s) (See Page 1 of this contract) has 3 working days from the date of puppy transfer to owners, to have the purchased Alaskan Malamute checked by a veterinarian of their choice in order to qualify for the guarantees below. ____(Initials)
To the New Owner: Please follow your veterinarian’s recommended vaccine schedule: I recommend feeding Alaskan Malamute large breed puppy food for the first 24 months of life. After that point, I recommend switching to large breed adult dog food. Please check with your veterinarian for best brands available in your area. (Current medical records and care attached, P.3). ____ (Initials)
Life-Threatening Illness: I (seller) offer no guarantee against illnesses or accidents that are not contracted on my(seller) home premises and take no responsibility for associated veterinary bills. If the veterinarian examination reveals that the puppy/dog has a life threatening illness, the buyer has an additional 24 hours to return the Alaskan Malamute to me(seller) at their(buyer) expense, along with a detailed written statement from the treating veterinarian about the animal’s condition. ____ (Initials)
Life-Threatening Genetic Defect: I(seller) further agree to guarantee the Alaskan Malamute puppy/dog for genetic defects that would be life threatening to the Alaskan Malamute. The diagnosis must be made before two years of age. I(seller) will not pay for veterinary bills or travel expenses associated with this condition. If the puppy/dog should die of this condition before the puppy/dogs second birth date, an autopsy (at buyer’s expense) is required for cause of death. The examining veterinarian must send all documents and proof of claim relating to the puppy/dog within this two year period. If the claim is valid, I will require the animal in question to be spayed/neutered or euthanized. ____ (Initials)
Preventable Illness: I(seller) will not accept a claim for a preventable illness. Failure to vaccinate or treat the Alaskan Malamute in accordance with veterinarian recommendations for standard practice, voids this contract. ____ (Initials)
Claims: I(seller), reserves the right to evaluate all claims and reject those deemed invalid for reasons described above. If the claim is valid, I(seller), will require that the animal in question be returned to me(seller), spayed/neutered or euthanized. Then the Alaskan Malamute will be replaced when another animal of similar appearance and equal or greater value becomes available. If the replacement puppy/dog is offered and not taken, then the claim will be considered null and void from that point forward. ____ (Initial)
Re-sale or Rescue: I(buyer) agree to return Alaskan Malamute puppy (purchased above) to Walters’ Alaskan Malamutes(seller) if I am no longer able to keep puppy purchased above for any reason. Puppy purchased above will not be sold or given away to another owner, humane society or rescue without written confirmation from Walters’ Alaskan Malamutes for approved home. Furthermore, if I(buyer) transfer puppy purchased above to anyone other than Walters’ Alaskan Malamutes(seller) for any reason without written permission and approval, I agree to pay a fee of $2,000.00 and have dog return at my(buyers) expense to Walters’ Alaskan Malamutes. ____ (Initials)
